Million-dollar views across the Whakatane river, the sand-hills, the Pacific Ocean and the offshore islands make this a location that you won’t want to leave.

The view is dynamic and everchanging with fishing vessels and pleasure boats passing by your window. There is native bush at the back of the property with kereru (wood pigeon), Tui and Korimako (Bellbirds) providing a melodic background. You can relax and unwind on the large deck that provides sweeping views of the river, the sea and the offshore islands and when you add in the gentle pounding of the sea, the B&B becomes a destination by itself.

Once you drag yourself away from the view and the surrounds, you are within 2kms of everything – The Whakatane CBD, White Island Tours, Charter Boat operators, swimming with dolphins, the Information Centre, Cafes and Restaurants. The Pacific Ocean and the sometimes-dramatic Whakatane Bar is a five-minute walk away.

Award winning Ohope beach is a 10-minute drive over the hill and a cycle trail / walkway passes the door that takes you along the riverbank, past the wharves and into town.

Gentle on the environment

The accommodation is gentle on the soul and gentle on the environment. Photo voltaic panels power a battery array and we run off the grid during the summer.
Rainwater is collected off the roof to water the gardens and water from the mains passes through three filters to provide filtered water throughout.
You also have access to natural spring water, collected from a local aquafer. Access to the internet is via a fibre optic cable.  There is no wi-fi available.
